I want to setup a modem failover (that dials the Internet) when the primary route fails on my RH 7.3 box. I'll be using an external modem, which will be off normally. The users will be instructed to cut the modem on when they lose their connection to the Internet. After they've been using the modem connection for a while (and the primary link is back up), I'll just have them cut off the modem and check the Internet (which would try to use the primary link). Maybe there's a better way to check the primary link?? Here's what I'm wondering:

1. How can I dial the Internet automatically when the Internet goes down?

2. If I just configure RH to always keep redialing the Internet all the time, and the modem is off (because the primary link it up), will I get error messages in the /var/log/messages file?
