This may be off-topic, but the easiest way to port forward that I found
for a home solution is to setup a Linksys hardware router.

Yes you can do it with Linux, iptables, etc.  In fact, Linux does a very
nice job acting as a router.  At the time I didn't have a machine that I
could setup with NAT, and a hardware router was about $50.
