I ran into a problem where I copied the group and passwd files from one machine (Red Hat 7.3) over to another (Red Hat 8) machine in hopes of saving some time recreating users. Now I am unable to open the GUI user configuration tool on Red Hat 8 box. At that point I restored the original files on the 8.0 box and now the same problem exists. Is there any way to fix this short of starting from scratch? When I try to open the GUI, it flashes open and then immediately closes.
