Your VMWare is running its own instance of smbd, perhaps? Do you know if you are using this feature? If not, disable it (vmware-config, AFAIK).

I am running rh 8 on a laptop with vmware for a win2k environment. I try and start the smbd and it looks like it is starting but it does not. I find this in /var/log/samba/smbd.log [2003/03/13 09:56:38, 0] lib/util_sock.c:open_socket_in(804) bind failed on port 139 socket_addr = 0.0.0.0. Error = Address already in use I cannot truly find an answer for this but I did do this command with the fllowing results - ps -ef|grep -i smb root 1331 1 0 09:05 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/vmware-smbd -D -l /dev/ Is it my vmware? What can I do next? -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
