Because of licensing problems, you must compile your own xanim in order to
get the Cinepak and/or Indeo compressions used in QuickTime and AVI,
respectively.  Basically, Radius and Intel will not allow their codecs
(which are the program components which decompress the data for those
formats) to be distributed in source form.  Because xanim is GPL, this is
a conflict. 

The author gets around it by distributing the codes as object files, which
are linked with the otherwise GPL xanim at compile time.  Unfortunately,
the licensing also prohibits Red Hat from distributing the fully featured
xanim, even in binary form.  Apparently only the xanim author has any
distribution rights for the code at all regardless of what form it is in.
Fortunately, xanim is pretty easy to compile.  :)

I don't remember what the site to download the working xanim from is.  I
managed to find it in Yahoo after rummaging around a little bit.
