I have found that using EasyCD Pro 95 to burn disks with Joliet names
to be an acceptable thing, but that is also because I am using the
v2.1.xx kernel with Joliet support... (I prefer to use mkisofs and
cdwrite under Linux, though) 

Joliet, btw, is not just Microsoft's name for long file names - it is
an extension of the iso9660 standard that supports long file names
(like rock ridge) but it also includes Unicode support for
internationalization. Also, the ISO9660 standard does not support long
file names - it supports the 8.3 DOS-style names...
