The Compaq Smart 2P controller is Fast-Wide SCSI. That's
20mb/second, compared to 40 for Wide Ultra, 80 for Ultra/2 Wide, 160
for Ultra 160, etc.

I run a 2P in my ProLiant 3000 and its speed is servicable.

Have you optimized your controller with cache RAM?

If you want a faster controller, you could go with the 221, the
Smart 2D-H, or the 3200 series, assuming your drives are physically
and protocol compatible.
