Hallo Robert,

  Have you set your workgroup to a matching name?  Did you give access to
127.0.0. and your local network address range? (ex 10.0.0.   or  192.168. )
Did you set up the password encryption?  Did you make use of the
smbpasswd -a command to add the user name and password combo to the samba's
password lists?  A firewall might be a problem as well...  If none of this
seems to be the problem, please post you smb.conf, or at least portions of
it.  man smb.conf and man smbpasswd will give the specifics on some of these
things.  Hope this helps.
