I'm trying to install tomcat by typing
$ rpm -ivv tomcat4-4.1.24-full.2jpp.noarch.rpm
I was going to refer you to the Q & A site Aly is putting up, as this is a FAQ, but I notice the submission I made is not on there yet.
Here's the solution:
kill all instances of rpm rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db* rpm --rebuilddb
You will get a db4 error - ignore that. All should be good after that.
In future, you can now try http://www.reznet.uleth.ca/faq/ for all this sort of stuff that's been asked before. Or ofcourse the archives or google.
Regards, Ed.
