I obtained a good wine rpm for redhat 9 at:

http://newrpms.sunsite.dk/apt/redhat/en/i386/9.0/RPMS.newrpms/

It's a newly built rpm package and it's working nicely. :-) It will save 
you the trouble of compiling. ;-)
