More updates on what I've tried: Installed Java plug-in for Mozilla, but it still freezes on start-up after a reboot. (Thanks for the suggestion, MRHL.)
I have noticed that Mozilla seems to freeze less if I start Opera first. Specifically, I can't get Mozilla to finish drawing its icons if I don't start Opera first. Also, I've noticed that Konqueror didn't freeze at all in the few hours I used it last night.
One other fact: when I installed RH9, I first installed just GNOME and used it for a few days without any freezes. I then went back and installed KDE. The freezes started then, but they continued when I switched back to GNOME. However, they were not immediately present in KDE. I suspect that I changed some setting in KDE which invalidated a path to some libraries, or something like that, which makes non-KDE web browsers crash. Starting Opera loads one of the libraries, so then Mozilla can start. OK, so I'm just making up an imaginary system for how libraries work. Input from someone who has more of a clue than I do would be welcomed.
Thanks, Brandon
