It looks like this is due to kudzu and updfstab. Here is one
reference. You may want to search google's newsgroups by yourself.
Thanks a lot for the hint, the problem is solved! I just had to edit /etc/fstab with entries without the kudzu option and they remain forever. By the way thanks a lot for the http://groups.google.com link, I did not have any idea of its existance and it is very, very handy to find specific answers to problems.
