Yeah....that's one of the problems....You don't get sufficient debug info.
As I had similar problems....and due to help of some people U can add the
following to /etc/syslog.conf:
daemon.* /var/log/ppp.log
This will log all activities from the pppd to this file.
I do not understand why this is not the default setting by the RedHat people?
This will give U much more debug info. Hope this helps a bit....
