Approximately when is "early", before any services are launched?

Firstly, as mentioned before, please fix your date. It's really annoying for me to try to find your message over 1400 or so back for the month.
As for early - watch the boot process. It actually says at one stage - 'Press 'I' for interactive boot' or words to that affect. That's when you press it.
