OK. Here we go. The "official" boxed set of RH 5.0 comes with BRU2000
personal edition. No docs, except a couple of README files and the
equivalent of a man page. I downloaded all the online docs for the vendor,
but they assume that the drive is visible to the kernel.
The software is device independent, but it does need to be pointed to the
tape drive. Describing the drive to the system is what I need some help to do.
I have a HP/CMS Travan 3000 drive which *could* work off the floppy
controller but is attached to its own, faster interface card.
How do I address this drive? Is is something like /dev/fd2 (since I
already have two floppy drives on the system)? The folks at Enhanced
Software Technologies, Inc. (the brewers of BRU) don't support the copies
shipped with RH 5 (or Caldera, for that matter).
Guidance from those of you experienced with BRU (or tar on a tape drive,
for that matter) will be greatly appreciated.
TIA,
Rich
