This is actually not hard. The easiest way to do it would be to install webmin.
www.webmin.com Once you install it you go into the web managment interface click on
services and then click on samba. From here you can setup the workgroup or domain
info. You will also need to create shares to go from Win to Linux. Also make sure
you create a linux and samba user fro the windows box(user). I am no expert but I
think that this is the easist way to get linux and windoze talking.

Subject: Linux and XP Win sharing files

I have a XP computer and a Linux Red Hat 8.0 on
network. Also, I enabled the file C:\sharing to share
this folder to network.
I want to share files between XP and Linux
How do I enable the sharing files at Linux ?

How do I set up XP to get the shared files from Linux
? And how do I set up Linux to get the shared files
from XP ?

I know samba would be answer for Linux but I do not
know how to set up it and how to Linux get the shared
files from XP

Any suggestion would be appreciate.

Best,

TC./
