Linux Hardware Solutions is seeking qualified applicants for openings
in our manufacturing/integration department. If you are self-motivated,

Job Description and Qualifications
----------------------------------
The job includes assembly, testing and validation of system configurations
as well as troubleshooting and providing solutions for the esoteric
needs of customers who need something "just a little different."
There is interaction with current and potential customers,
so verbal communications skills are a must. Ancillary projects related
to LHS may present the opportunity for programming and image manipulation
in addition to normal duties. Limited travel will be required for trade
shows as well as client site visits for installation and configuration
of large cluster systems.
The candidate must be able to communicate well and work in a group
setting as well as alone. The ability to effectively handle self-
management and desire to advance to management of a team is a
plus.
The perfect candidate will have experience with Linux at the administrative/
systems level. The more experience, the better. Preferred qualifications
include:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 2 years experience with the Linux operating system
- Knowledge of x86 PC architecture and system integration issues
as they relate to Linux
- Knowledge of Alpha architecture and system integration issues
as they relate to Linux
- Familiarity with the concept and design of Beowulf-class systems
- Superior problem solving skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- SCUBA certification
- Knowledge of fishing techniques pertaining to select mid-Atlantic
pelagics.
The positions are in Wilmington, North Carolina, and will be available soon.
If you're not familiar with NC, Wilmington is on the coast in the southeast
corner of the state. Hometown of such people as Michael Jordan (that
guy who plays basketball in Chicago), Roman Gabriel (former LA Rams
quarterback), Meadowlark Lemon (of the Harlem Globetrotters), Dr. Jim
Goodnight (Co-founder of SAS Institute) and David Brinkley (network TV news
anchor)
Wilmington is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. RTP is
approximately 2 hours away via I-40, Myrtle Beach SC is an hour
southwest. Barstow California is just over 2300 miles away via I-40. :-)
Washington, DC is approximately 6 hours north, Atlanta 6 west.
Fishing and diving are available just off the coast with alpine
sports just across the state. The climate of Wilmington is mild most
of the year with few days below 30 degrees F and rare days above 95 F.
These are salaried positions, with the precise figure to be based on
your qualifications.
