I have a Umax 6400 firewire scanner. I installed it and kudzu recognized it. However sane doesn't appear to. I did notice that the /dev/scanner points to /dev/sg? Sorry, can't be more detailed. I was checking it out remotely and my step-son rebooted it on me. (He gets home from school and reboots into XP to go online and play games) Anyway, I had bought this scanner a while back and had it running under Win98, but when I upgraded to 2000, it no longer worked and Umax didn't have a software download for it. I have yet to get it to work under Linux either. I would think changing the device in /dev/scanner should point it to the right device, but which one? Any help would be great. Oh, and yes I googled. There was a www.linux1394.org/ that might have answered my questions, but access was denied.
