Every time I've had to install RH5, which has been many, I've had to turn
off (or unplug) everything SCSI except the CDROM. When I don't I get the
error as you describe.

If the installer sees anything else on my SCSI chain, it hangs and crashes.
Once installed, I plug it all back in or tun it on, add things in by hand
and everything then works.

This wasn't so with 4.2 and I suspect the install script is a bit buggy.
