I have the following setup: |------| |-----------| | NT |192.168.1.2 192.168.1.1| Linux | | 4.0 |-------------------------| 2.0.33 | |------| |-----------| aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd | | MODEM 33.6(PPP0) | | | | INTERNET NT 4.0 -> PPro 200/64MB NE2000 Linux -> i386/16/MB NE2000 I use Linux as a firewall for my WinNT box. The Linux Box is connected through a 33.6 modem to my ISP. It runs ipmasquerading, DSN cache server. When there is no load on the Linux box everything is fine. I get a speed of 32kbit/sec and +/- 1% package drop. But when the load gets high (new kernel build) the speed drops to 4kbit/sec and 25% package drop. I already use IRQTune to boost the serial IRQ. I tried to 'nice' the kernel build, but no improvement. Is there anyway I can improve the speed when the load gets high ?
