There are several reasons it does not come more secure by default.
Security is always a tradeoff, and it is not up to the author to determine
just how secure it should be configured.
The support is there with lilo to be configured more securely. This
avoids people saying, "Dammit, lilo is too hard to use!".
See the `password' and `restricted' options for lilo. Also see the new
