Make your root partition below the 1024 cylinder mark, and you should be
better off.

Is there a valid DOS filesystem on all your partitions which are marked by
fdisk as type DOS?  You must create a DOS filesystem on all those
filesystems, or exclude them from the lilo config until you do.

Are you using the 32-bit M$ filesystem on your windows partition?  If so,
you'll need to boot from a floppy for the time being, I think.
