Hi,
I've been tasked with setting up a server for the department and
can pick up a couple of AMI MegaRaid 428's for real cheap. Are AMI's
MegaRaid cards good for setting up hardware RAID in Linux? I've heard
variously that (a) AMI's drivers aren't very good (b) Linux Soft RAID
is better than hardware RAID if doing RAID 0 or RAID 1 (e.g. no parity)
(c) You can get better performance by using the MegaRaid as a 3-channel
SCSI card and soft-raid (4) there is a tool for configuring arrays under
Linux and Megaraid cards. Any comments? Thanks.
