All, Yesterday I posted about an issue I was having with RH 6.1 when I was trying to upgrade from 6.0, and I finally figured out the problem! As I said, I had both the new boot disk plus the updates disk, but I was making the mistake of having the CD in the CD-ROM drive when I would boot from the new boot disk and typing "linux updates" at the boot: prompt; if I did this, the system would hang at "running /sbin/loader". The solution is to NOT have the CD in the drive and just boot with the floppy. Once I did this it did NOT hang at "running /sbin/loader", and I was asked to insert the updates floppy, and then after that, I was asked to insert the CD, which is when I FINALLY inserted it and then the upgrade worked w/o issues! So, there you have it - the solution was as simple as that! Too bad RH does NOT have any comments on this in their errata page...
