Hey! I have even more information concerning the stupid tape drive thing.
Ok. We had to reboot our server due to a mishap with Frontpage Extensions
(anyone had any luck installing these things, argh?). Curious, we ran an
lsmod after the reboot. Another line was added into what is shown below:

    nls_iso8859-1    2020    (autoclean)

Now, assuming that this is the tape drive module or what have you (when I
did an mt status, I got back good messages not errors), would it be a right
assumption that if this driver disappears, I'd be able to do a simple:

    modprobe nls_iso8859-1

to get it back and use the tape drive?
