Subject: Howto recreate removed /dev/st0? (tape)
Date: 13/11/1999
From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hello,
I accidently (of course ;-) removed my /dev...
I have cannot restore /dev from my tape
using my rescue diskette because /dev/st0,
thus my tape-device, you guessed it, is removed...
How do I recreate my /dev/st0?
I find it in my 'Running Linux':
root# mknod -m permissions /dev/st0 type major minor
but what are the parameters for:
-m: is this necessary?
permissions: value?
type: value?
major: value?
minor: value?
And if this is not the right way to put back my /dev
how can I do it via rpm and my CD (RedHat5.0. kernel 2.0.31)
using my rescue diskette?
Please send your answer also to my personal
e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Kind regards and thanks!!
Rene
