Now that I've solved my compile and Samba problems (I think), I'm
interested in moving my internet access off of my Win98 machine and onto
my Linux server.

My question revolves around whether there are any special considerations
from my using MCI as my ISP, and Newsguy as my newsfeed.

Right now, all of my internet activity at home goes through a Win98
machine with an external V90 modem. I use Netscape for browsing and
mailing list email, and Forte Agent for usenet and non-mailing list
email.

What I'd like to do is to shift the connection to the server, while
maintaining the existing software which would then hopefully just be
pointed to the server instead of directly to MCI and Newsguy.

In addition, I'd like to add some new usenet functionality, namely the
ability to filter easily on IP address using sendmail or Linux software,
and to download usenet news messages based on user-id. The latter is
not an immediate need, but I'd like to implement it eventually.

Are there any special considerations, or will all of this be relatively
straightforward?

I'd like to have my own domain name as I did when I ran a private Waffle
site, but I don't know if MCI permits this. I think I sent them an
email and never got an answer.

I'm running Red Hat 6.0 on a Pentium 200 with 64meg., 10meg. drive, and
a 10 megabit ethernet connection to the Win98 machine. Eventually
there'll be a Pentium 133 on the same network, from which I'd like to
browse.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks.
