The ttmkfdir seemed to work okay, but restarting xfs totally cracked up
the Xserver and left me out in the cold :-)

Seriously, the Xserver went down and I couldn't restart, kept getting
the 'UNIX/:-1' error I've seen on the list... (can't find any solutions
there either)

HISTORY::: The initial OS installation worked well and had ttfonts as
far as I know (I didn't work with it much as I was trying to get
everything up to speed).

Now I have no ttf or Type 1 from the /usr/share/.. directory.

The only way I could get the Xserver up was to comment out the UNIX/:-1
line, but that has problems, apparently (not sure what the heck I'm
doing there). I'm sorta left with a crippled X and not ttf at all ( as
well as a shortage of other fonts, it seems).

I've looked arround, but all the docs and sites seem to refer to xfstt,
not the new xfs.

Is there a way to get back at least to where I was? What goes wrong to
give the directory path UNIX/:-1 error?

I'm a little stumped and I can't seem to RTFM on any of this :-)

BTW, I've tried some of the 'solutions' I've seen here on the list, like
the tcp ports, full filesystem, permission probs in tmp, etc...

It's a pain as I can't really do the work I want to on my web pages
without ttf...

such is life.

I'm starting to consider a reinstall. Might as well be using windows :-)
