Subject: Weird install trouble
Importance: High

When I try to run the installer on a Compaq ProSignia, I can't find the
SCSI driver to use. The SCSI controller chip is marked as a NCR 53C710,
which means that 53c7,8xx.o should cover it, but on the 6.1 boot disk,
that driver isn't on the list!

Can't help here...

Is there a tool I can use to read and write Linux floppies under Win98?
Also, is the red hat install CD linux, ISO-9660, or Joliet (long
filename standard for CDs) formatted, and what's in its directory
structure? If I'm just creating it wrong, which could be the reason for
the problem I've had on another machine where it says it can't find
/sbin/loader after selecting install from CD, I'd like to know how to
fix it.

On the linux cd, there's a util called rawrite in /dosutils. That will write
a disk image file (.img) to a floppy under win9x. as for reading, I think
windows will read the linux boot disks on its own. If at all possible, build
the CD using the .iso file on the ftp site.
(/pub/redhat/redhat-6.1/iso/*.iso)
Hope that helps...
