Hi, I am about to put together a system (got all the parts in Friday!)
and I was wondering before I install Redhat 6.1 Secure server (machine
is going to be a WINS, Samba, DHCP, NIS+ server for about 45
workstations, only TCP/IP used ).
Machine is a ASUS P2B-DS Motherboard, 2 Pentium III 500's, 256 Meg ECC
Ram, 8 Meg Diamond v550, Fujitsu 10k 9.1 Gig Ultra2Wide SCSI, 40x CD,
Intel 10/100 EtherPro all in a Full tower.
Ok, so my question is this. Should I just let Redhat do its stock
Server install and then update the Samba RPMS.
Would the "server install" created partitions be the best performance
wise for this setup?
I have used several servers but always just made two partitions (/ and
swap), probably not the best secure or performance wise.
Just wanted some feedback.
Thanks for anything.
