Try saving the file as a text attachment on a floppy disk, and then mount
the floppy under linux with:
mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy
(assuming that you are using the first floppy disk. If not, substitute 1,2,3
etc.. for 0)
although I'm not a samba expert, one thing you may try is checking whether
you are using encrypted passwords, and changing the setting in your
/etc/smb.conf (or /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf) to be the opposite of what
it is now. For instance, you have encrypted set to 'Y', try changing it to
'N'. This has worked for me in the past.
