I am using GNOME for the first time. One thing that is driving me crazy
is that when windows are popped up on the screen, keyboard focus doesn't
always follow. For example, I'm running Netscape Mail and click New
Message. A
message-composition Window pops up but until I click my mouse in that
window, it isn't active and keystrokes that I type go elsewhere.
Similarly if I click the terminal button at the bottom, I must click
into the terminal window
after it pops up in order for it to accept my keystrokes.

Is this normal with Gnome? A known bug? Or what? I simply installed
it
right out of the 6.1 box. This is really unacceptable behavior. I
could easily
mess up whatever other window does have the keyboard focus because of
this.
No other GUI I have seen behaves this way. Not Windows, not KDE, not
even FVWM.
