You can often learn a lot by going in the wrong direction for a while ;-)

As Charles suggested, you will not get good answers to general questions.
The general answers have already been written in the HOWTOs and other
documents. Specific questions will get good answers. 

The HOWTO documents often give a step-by-step explanation of setting things
up. Try it and if something does not work, explain the steps you took, the
tests you ran, and the results you got. That will be much more helpful to
someone who may be interested in helping you.
