When my system boots up and the PC is ready for me to logon it will not let 
me type in the system password.

When I get the following prompt:

Red Hat Linux release 6.0 (Hedwig)
Kernel 2.2.5-15 on an I586

Kimetre login:

I type in root and then it goes back to the login prompt.
What am I doing wrong?
