I am running RedHat on a machine with 2 NICs. One NIC is connected to the Internet and the other to local LAN. I notice by accident that if I telnet or FTP from within my local LAN, e.g. ftp 192.168.20.1, and I do not have the other NIC connected, then the connection will fail. So I have 2 questions: 1. How could I allow for the local interface work even if the other connection is not up? 2. Is there anyway to allow root to telnet in on the local interface and not from external one? Thank you very much. -- To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
