[hal@feenix hal]$ which cc
/usr/bin/cc

[hal@feenix hal]$ rpm -qf /usr/bin/cc
egcs-1.1.2-24

[hal@feenix hal]$ rpm -q egcs
egcs-1.1.2-24

Try these commands to see what you have. The RPM to install is
egcs*rpm off the CD. If you don't have this, you likely are missing
quite a few other packages that may be required for building from
source.
