If you figure out how to do this let me know, but I have never seen it done
without java. Meaning once the initial pages are drawn I have never seen
anyone open a connection and get information back without redrawing the
page. You might be able to open a little window that simply states something
like "fetching data" which gets the information using the CGI and then using
javascript accesses the other window's form elements to write the new
values. Once this is done the window could close itself.
Stupid .. maybe, but it could work.
