jre for StarOffice

I've untarred JRE 1.2.2 into /usr/local/jre1.2.2, and installed StarOffice
5.1 The installation sees the JRE directory, but every time I run into
Java on the web, StarOffice complains that it can't find a Java
environment. Any ideas?
