Hi all,

I would love to get some response from Redhat people on this one.

Q. Why is the Gnome version on Redhat 6.2 so ancient ?
I was really looking forward to get a real nice default Gnome desktop
(like the Helix one) when
installing my new wonderful Redhat Linux OS.
(I has been a pleasure since RH 4.0)

However, when starting my Gnome desktop i almost started to cry when i saw
that it was a really old setup(Heck, there isnt even the rezizble panel
that has been there since November - wich is really a must when working
on a IBM 380 that only handles 800x600) also there seems to be only the
old icons.

No tear off menus or anything...

OK, stop whining you say, but hey, Gnome has evolved a lot since october
Gnome and the version on RH 6.2 dosent show any of the new features that
are in the "STABLE" version of Gnome.(and have been there well in time to
get it on the CD)

I was looking forward to be able to demo Redhat and Gnome for my freinds,
collegues and customers.

The way it is now i have to get HelixGnome on a separte CD and install
that to be able to show what the the stable verison of Gnome look and feel
like.

Will Redhat begin to include the Helixcode version of Gnome in the future
(this way you wouldnt have to bother with the setup) ?

OK, ill probobly will get flamed for this letter, however, as a Redhat
user since 4.0 i have never once been disappontied before this.

Of course, the rest of the dist seems wonderful as ever and it has some
really nice features.

Regards

Daniel Persson

PS Dont respond "Give up, use KDE instead" - i used KDE hardly to Beta2
but have been a Gnome user since then -(spring 1998).
I like Gnome and thats it.
