I have had -NO- problems using MediaRing behind a Masq/Ipchains Firewall.

I just enabled Socks on the Linux box and set MediaRing to use it.

Works like a champ. One of the few Telephony proggies which needs no
tweaking to function.

BTW: Get yourself a headphone with boom mic.

It makes all the difference in the world, when using internet telephony.

Regular telephones have a voice cancellation feature that prevent the
feedback loops and audio problems you can get via a microphone.

The Headphone/Mic boom gets you close enough to this to make Itelephony
viable.

And to answer your obvious question... SOCKS HOWTO.

Subject: MediaRing VOIP and Firewall

I have tried to use MediaRing on my Win 95 clients. I think that there
is a conflict with my firewall running off the linux server. Does
anyone have experience with this software of can provide insight onto
determining what ports are being accessed / blocked

Thanks.
