Hi all, not sure that this is the best place to ask this, but it seems a good starting point. at work we're moving from a HP-UX environment to a Red Hat Linux environment. One big application we're presently using in our HP environment is Lotus Notes. To the best of my knowledge, Lotus is refusing to release a Notes client for Linux. That being the base, I am exploring potential possibilities for Notes replacements. Core Notes functionality we make use of includes: - multiple conference databases (we call them "databases" in notes) - restricted access (for example, access granted to a "database" by the administrator at the individual level. i.e. I as an administrator can decide who can read, and who can post.) - accessable across an intranet (assuming that those who need to read/post read been granted access) - conversion of all existing notes databases to the new facility - cross platform clients (a web browser would be ideal) We use Notes conferences for: - reporting and tracking bugs (a bug can be reported, assigned, answered, closed - there will be sepatare pages for each status) - idea forums (ideas are posted, and people respond in a thread fashion) What possibile alternatives exist under Red Hat Linux, or Linux in general ? thx, and rgds, -Greg ---------------------------------- E-Mail: Gregory Hosler <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: 04-Apr-00 Time: 10:02:23 The answer to the meaning of life: perl -e 'print$i=pack(c5,(41*2),sqrt(7056),(unpack(c,H)-2),oct(115),10); ' ---------------------------------- -- To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
