Happens on my 6.1 box, too. I don't have a solution, just letting you know
you're not the only one. It doesn't seem to do any harm, so I've been
ignoring it. Also - I don't think that the problem is with the prompt - it
just seems like vi is writing out a 'c' before the prompt comes up. So it's
not actually changing the prompt.
