I just installed Redhat 6.2 and then upgraded the kernel to 2.3.99
pre5 on my i-opener, and it seems like the new kernel is finally
booting and most things are working..(of particular concern was
getting USB networking working, because the i-opener doesn't have a
PCI or ISA bus, and hence, has no Ethernet card..)

So I have compiled the kernel with USB, and figured out that I needed
to use insmod to load the usbcore, uhci and pegasus modules. And now,
networking works!

I can get stuff on and off it.. which seems like nothing, but for me
its exciting..

However, some things are still a little funky..maybe you can help..

1. I have to load the modules manually, via insmod, and kerneld is
nowhere to be found!

2. I have been getting several error messages, can anyone tell me
what they mean?

"Gdk-WARNING **: shmget failed!"
during boot:

A message that the XFS something isnt working..

nfslock: lockd shutdown failed
rpc.lockd: lockdsvc: Invalid argument
nfslock: rpc.lockd startup failed
nfslock: rpc.statd [1334]: Caught Signal 15, unregistering and exiting

3. Linuxconf doesn't work..

The most important thing is that I want the kernel module process to
work right...

Also, I have a question.. Is there a FREE up2date server anywhere?

Thank you!

Chris
