I'm a little confused by this, but you may want to look into a sendmail
option called "Errors-To:".

This is out of /usr/lib/sendmail-cf/README.  It may be different for your
version of sendmail.

confUSE_ERRORS_TO*      UserErrorsTo    [False] Use the Errors-To: header
                                        to
                                        deliver error messages.  This
                                        should
                                        not be necessary because of
                                        general
                                        acceptance of the envelope/header
                                        distinction.

I'm not 100% about this header, so I'd recommend you go read up on it at
www.sendmail.org.
