The VMware manual suggests you install using the text mode and to install
the
VMware Tools for Linux package immediately after installing Red Hat Linux in
order to get the accelerated SVGA X server running inside the virtual
machine.
Mandrake is very similar to Red Hat so this would probably apply to Mandrake
as
well. You also need to select the standard VGA16 X server and the Generic
VGA
compatible/Generic VGA card as well as the Generic monitor and have the
installation
probe for screen configuration. The SVGA driver will be installed from the
VMware
Tools installation.
