If you were using the newer kernel NFS daemon (knfsd) and you didn't select 
"prompt for development and/or incomplete code/drivers" (under the "code 
maturity level options" when using menuconfig), you won't see it when you 
build a kernel.  It's under "filesystems" / "network filesystems".

If this isn't the case, then I'm not sure.
