Hi Jim,
        First of all you to mount the cdrom if you Linux OS does not do
automounting. I think you missed to check this. try the
command "mount /mnt/cdrom" or "mount /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom (if the cdrom is
a secondary master one" or "mount /dev/hdb /mnt/cdrom (if the cdrom is
primary slave" . Once the cdrom is mounted you can playcd.
