You do NOT need ISDN compiled into the kernel. I have 4 of
these running just perfect. They are simple RS-232 devices as far as
the kernel is concerned.

You might want to tell us how you have the service configured.
If you are trying to start up something with the ISDN subsystem, that
won't work and that's probably your problem. Just specify the appropriate
com port and have at it as an async devices.
That being said, if you want to operate dual channel (2B - 128K
on the ISDN line) you will probably want to operate the interface at
230,400 baud. Most 16550A interfaces will only do 115,200 unless you
have a clock doubler board (I have several) which allows you to double
the clock speed to the UART. I'm running my 4 TAs through a Computone
Intelliport 8 board that allows each of it's 8 ports to rock along at
up to 921,600 baud. If you are using COM1, you are probably using
the on-board UART that comes on most modern motherboards. I don't believe
that they will do 230,400, but I could be wrong. If setserial thinks
it's a 16550A, I don't think you can do it.

Forget the ISDN stuff in the kernel. You are NOT dealing with
that sort of beast. Treat it like any other high speed async device.
