The manuals are out of date! I think, but am not sure, that you can run
at least an 850MHz processor in there. I think I have run in upwards of
an 800MHz myself. Hope this helps.
I am running RH6.2 on the Athlon as well, 1GHz to be exact (excuse me
while I wipe the drool off my chin). The only issue we have had is that
we have to be able to get 2.2.16-3 kernel onto the machine before it
reboots from the installation. We managed to do it from a network
kickstart. Apparently the kernel 2.2.14 that ships with RH wants to
apply a serial number to the chip and this only works on processors up
to 700MHz and even some of those don't work. Let me know if you want
more info on how to do this.
