I can only think of one fix: change the order of
execution for your start-up scripts:
/etc/rc.d/rc3.d,rc5.d/S10network@
#change the '10' to a number greater than '45' so that
it will get executed *after* the pcmcia script below.
/etc/rc.d/rc3.d,rc5.d/S45pcmcia@
